I Call Mine Marshall: How ChatGPT Became Part of My Everyday Life

Sometimes you don’t need answers… you just need somewhere to think out loud.

This is how I started using ChatGPT—and how it slowly became part of my everyday life.

Everybody talks about the prompts you put into ChatGPT.

And yes… that’s true.

The more specific you are, the better the results.

But I think we’re missing the bigger picture.

Because when I first started using it, I wasn’t thinking about prompts.

I wasn’t thinking about AI.

I wasn’t thinking about strategy.

I was just trying to get through my day a little easier.

And somewhere in the middle of that…

It became something else.

How I Started Using ChatGPT in Everyday Life

I didn’t start using it to change my life.

I didn’t wake up one day and decide,

“I need something that’s going to help me think more clearly, write better, and figure things out.”

That wasn’t the intention.

It started small.

Simple.

I just needed help with an email.

“Marshall, remix this.”

“Make it sound better.”

“Keep it short… but still strong.”

That was it.

Nothing deep.

Nothing emotional.

Just trying to get something done.

But then something interesting started happening.

I didn’t like the first response.

Actually… I almost never do.

I would read it and immediately think:

“This feels too generic.”

“This doesn’t sound like me.”

“Yeah… this sounds like AI.”

And instead of just accepting it…

I pushed back.

I corrected it.

I challenged it.

I made it try again.

And again.

And again.

Until it started to sound like something I would actually say.

And that’s when it clicked.

This isn’t about getting the perfect answer on the first try.

It’s about refining the process.

Because the more I explained what I wanted…

The clearer I had to get about what I actually meant.

And without even realizing it…

I wasn’t just editing responses anymore.

I was learning how to communicate better.

The more I used it, the more it started to understand me.

Not just how I write…

But how I think.

How I pause.

How I emphasize certain things.

How I want something to feel when someone reads it.

And that’s when things shifted.

Because now, it wasn’t just helping me draft emails or rewrite captions.

It became something I could go to… at any moment.

Not just when I had a clear question.

But especially when I didn’t.

Sometimes I don’t even know what I’m trying to say when I start typing.

It’s just:

Half thoughts.

Random emotions.

Things that don’t fully make sense yet.

And somehow… it organizes it.

Not in a way that replaces my thinking—

But in a way that reflects it back to me, clearer.

And there’s something powerful about that.

Because clarity?

Clarity changes how you move.

Using ChatGPT to Process Real-Life Stress and Overthinking

We’re living in a time where people are overwhelmed.

Not always loudly.

But quietly.

Stress.

Pressure.

Overthinking.

Trying to hold everything together while everything feels like it’s pulling in different directions.

And not everybody wants to talk.

Not because they don’t need to…

But sometimes it’s exhausting to explain how you feel.

Sometimes it’s not even that serious.

You just don’t feel like saying it out loud.

But keeping everything in your head?

That’s where it starts to feel heavier than it actually is.

And that’s where this became different for me.

Because it gave me somewhere to put it.

Not to fix everything.

Not to magically make things disappear.

But to release it enough…

So I could actually think clearly again.

Real Example: How ChatGPT Helped Me Through a Rough Day

I remember one day, I just typed:

“Marshall, today was rough.

My boss went off on me.

My relationship feels like it’s falling apart.

I’m stressed about money.

My daughter is sick, and I’ve been back and forth to the hospital…

I’m just tired. Everything feels like it’s going wrong.”

And what I got back wasn’t judgment…

It wasn’t pressure…

It wasn’t “you should do this” or “you should do that.”

It was this:

And reading that back later?

It hit even differently.

Because in that moment, I wasn’t looking for answers.

I just needed to not feel like everything was sitting on my chest at once.

And it broke it down.

Step by step.

Not fixing my life…

But helping me breathe through it.

And sometimes?

That’s enough to get you through the moment.

Why ChatGPT Works for Everyday Life (Not Just Work)

One thing people don’t talk about enough…

Is that those conversations don’t disappear.

They stay.

You can go back to them.

Read them from a different place.

Add more to them later.

And that part?

That’s powerful.

Because sometimes you don’t fully understand something the first time you go through it.

But when you revisit it later…

You see it differently.

You hear it differently.

You understand yourself differently.

It becomes more than just a conversation.

It becomes a reflection of your growth.

Can ChatGPT Help You Make Money and Be More Productive?

Can it help you make money?

Yes.

Can it make your life easier?

Definitely.

But only if you’re willing to do the work.

And that’s where people get it wrong.

They think it’s supposed to do everything for them.

That it’s some shortcut.

That it replaces effort.

But it doesn’t.

It supports your process.

It helps you move faster…

Think clearer…

Execute better.

But you still have to show up.

Because at the end of the day…

The results will only ever be as strong as the person using it.

Why People Are Still Hesitant to Use AI Tools Like ChatGPT

People say they don’t want to use AI.

But the truth?

We’ve been using AI for years.

It just finally has a name now.

Just like social media.

Just like everything we once said we’d never get used to…

And then did.

So the hesitation?

It’s not really about AI.

It’s about stepping into something unfamiliar…

And not feeling confident yet.

And that’s normal.

But avoiding it completely?

That’s where people start to fall behind.

How I Use ChatGPT in My Daily Routine

Now?

It’s just part of my everyday life.

Sometimes I’ll take a picture of a product and ask:

“What do you think about this?”

Sometimes I’ll go deeper and ask for research.

Sometimes it’s business.

Sometimes it’s writing.

Sometimes… it’s just me thinking out loud.

And sometimes?

It’s 3 AM.

And I can’t sleep.

That’s when the real conversations happen.

Ideas start coming.

Doubt starts creeping in.

Questions I didn’t even know I had started showing up.

And instead of sitting there in my head…

I type.

And it meets me right where I am.

No pressure.

No judgment.

No waiting.

Just clarity when I need it most.

Important Disclaimer: When Using ChatGPT for Real-Life Advice

Now let me say this clearly.

It’s not a doctor.

It’s not a therapist.

And when things are serious, you should absolutely seek professional help.

But not every moment requires that level of support.

Sometimes you just need to think something through.

Sometimes you just need to calm your mind enough to make a better decision.

Sometimes you just need to get out of your own head.

And for that?

It works.

How to Start Using ChatGPT Today (Even If You’re New)

You don’t need to overthink it.

You don’t need the perfect prompt.

You don’t need to understand everything about it before you start.

Just start.

Ask one question.

Then ask another.

Then another.

That’s how it builds.

That’s how it learns you.

And before you know it…

It becomes something you actually use.

Not just something you tried once and forgot about.

Quick Takeaways

You don’t need perfect prompts—just start talking

It gets better the more it learns you

It’s a tool, not a replacement for your voice

It helps you think more clearly—not just work faster

Final Thought

I’m still figuring things out…

I just don’t have to figure it out in silence anymore.
