It is easy to say, I’ll deal with that later or “my desk is messy, but I know where everything is.” Are these excuses, lies, or are they really getting things done this way? I understand that there are 20 million ways to do one thing, but a messy, disorganized desk is a cluttered mind…don’t you think the same?

Would it not be easier to file everything away so that when you need it, there is no thinking, grab and go? I love things in order. I know things will get out of place sometimes, but it won’t be there for hours.
Being organized or disorganized tells a lot about a person. I would only put my trust in people whose office is a mess. They would lose my important documents in that mess.
Being organized shows, you can compartmentalize things, whether it is physical or mental. You have a place for everything and can always come back to it. This alerts others that you are a reliable person. It also shows that you can be trusted.
How did I come to this conclusion? Well, it is straightforward. Let’s look at this example below….she has papers everywhere, a desk stocked pile high with work completed and may be incomplete. Can you say you would trust them with something else to achieve? I could not!

Now, look at this person below. Everything is in the place where it is supposed to be. They look like they are on top of the world and can handle anything. This person will always be trusted, hands down.

Another example is, does the person who looks like they are all over the place get the big promotions? N-O again! Being disorganized has a negative perception of others no matter what field you are in.
Even trash is organized when it's taken to the dump….so if you are a disorganized person, it is time to make some changes and get the help you need.
Here is how you begin. Start small and stay calm. Begin by getting file folders and label each file—place documents in folders on your desk. Once you complete that task, move on to something else. Remember, being organized and keeping your desk straight is a process. Whatever you are using, put it where it belongs the first time. By doing this, you will begin to train your brain to do it regularly.
I hope this has shed some light on the matter of being organized. Please read my article How to Get Organized and Stay Organized. If you need my assistance, I am here.
Until Next Time...
