5 Ways to Becoming An Expert

ree

How do you become an expert in your field? HARD WORK

Does going to school make you an expert? NO

Does reading a book make you an expert? NO

Does saying you are an expert make you an expert? NO

So what do you think will make you an expert? HARD WORK

First, an expert is a person who has comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of a skill in a particular area. Do you consider yourself well-skilled and versed in a specific field? Do you think that by being an expert, you should stop learning?

I have reached the mark of being an expert in Social Media, and I am very knowledgeable about it. I am a Certified Social Media Consultant and have learned a tremendous amount of information, especially from trial and error. I do not believe you should stop learning because you consider yourself proficient in your craft. On the contrary, you are always supposed to increase your knowledge in skills when it comes to your craft.

I was a Sales Coordinator/Assistant Sales Manager at one of my previous jobs. One of my tasks was reviewing sales contracts and ensuring they were coded correctly. I needed to learn more about the industry or the correct codes when I started. But I studied my codes and asked questions because I wanted to be great at my job. I observed what my supervisor told the other employees and, most of all, by trial and error. It took work. I would always ask myself, “Wow, how did he learn all that and remember it to assist someone else?” It did not hit me until a few years ago that you only become an expert in 5 ways.

  1. It would be best if you desired to learn thoroughly what you are doing without shortcuts. You must be more knowledgeable by not taking the easy way out.

  2. Focus. When we are taught something new, we must first focus on the steps, but as we continue to do it, we should understand why it needs to be done in this particular order. When you only focus on the steps, you will be unable to understand the process analytically. You will be one of those people who do things because you were told to do them and never grasp why it needs to be done or if it can be done another way.

  3. Willing to be corrected and make mistakes. Before you become a teacher, you must be a student. You have to be teachable and not scared to make a mistake. It would be best if you took a calculated risk.

  4. Repetition. You have to be able to do something over and over, fine-tune it and begin again. How many times do you think a doctor has to do surgery before they can work on a natural person?

  5. Fine-tune your skills. As an expert, you cannot stop learning. There are many ways to find a solution. Your job as the expert is to find the best way.

Go the extra mile and perfect your craft. I love learning new things to make me a better person for my family and to help get better results. I am on the road to becoming a better expert, and others ask me for my advice. Knowledge is Unbelievably Powerful!!!

Want to become an expert? Keep learning and fine-tuning

Until Next Time…
